The catwalk was awash with pretty, whimsical, ladylike ensembles with an eccentric edge, says the WGSN Catwalk Team

Each season, in addition to our in-depth catwalk reviews at WGSN, we spotlight the early trends that are coming through.

Right now we’re in the middle of Pre-Fall 2016 and key themes are already emerging from the shows.

Spotted at No. 21, Preen Line, Gucci, Rochas and Bottega Veneta it was all about the idea of the society girl taking tea at the Ritz. This emerged as designers’ new muse for Pre-Fall 16, resulting in a variety of pretty, whimsical ensembles.

Key item: Pleated, waisted tea dresses accentuate the female form, while contrasting textures on ladylike ensembles lend an eccentric ambience to this look.

If this trend were a person it would be: Chloë Sevigny meets Tavi Gevinson
