AGE OF INNOCENCE
Miuccia Prada created an enchanting dreamscape, somehow mixing wholesome 50s family vacations with 60s Paco Rabanne, in a movement away from her haunting Little Red Riding Hood theme from the previous season. Postcards of beachy locales were digitally printed onto simple coats and little silk briefs. Frayed edges on raw silk brought a slightly deconstructed quality to stiff cropped jackets and abbreviated shorts; crisp cotton shirttails peered out from under, for new layering. Clear chandelier crystals that might have gleamed in hotel lobbies were used for chain-link pinafores worn over swimwear, and Lucite sandals and see-though vinyl frame bags were adorned with the same facets. Scuba-like fabric was worked into active-influenced biker shorts, worn with “beach glass” encrusted tops. Crinkled cloqué added texture to babydoll jackets and rompers, in a mysterious midnight-sea teal that seemed bright against all the misty grey. Messy ponytails, plastic sunglass frames and candy-apple glazed lips kept it all relaxed and fun.
