Prada Spring/Summer 2016: A thoroughly eccentric take on the 1960s

Prada

Milan: Gold-lipped models adorned with pompom earrings, showed-off one of the best presentations from Miuccia Prada. This was a collection that challenged the expected codes of sartorial chic and was of course, totally Miuccia, where nothing is ever as it appears.

The collection began with a boxy jacket, but this was not just any jacket, it was intricately detailed with contrast edging while the skirt was cleverly cut in panels and layered in contrasting fabrics – and this was only the beginning. Dynamic and rigorous graphics in bold sweaters complemented the coloured lines that defined seams and the edge of collars.

Textural lace overlays adorned every outfit and were intricately embellished with glittering gems. Dresses with dropped waists were defined with contrast blocking and colourful stripes worn under transparent slips of organza. As for the coats, the most covetable items of the lineup were constructed in glittering pailettes or striped metallic snakeskin. You could hear the audience murmur in delight at the mix of tweeds paired with shiny stripes in leather and as for the stream of color, pattern and textured leather that adorned those shoes!
