New York: As in Prabal Gurung’s last collection, spring was inspired by his native Nepal.″I wanted to continue the journey,″ he said. ″This time it′s more a visual diary of her trek up the mountains.″ Drawing on the Himalayas for references such as trekking maps, mountain landscapes and the rhododendron flower, Prabal Gurung used these as the basis for embroideries and jacquards in a palette of sunset pastels. He also continued with the collaged sweaters from the previous season, asymmetrically draped and exposing just a peak of bare skin. Silhouettes presented a sporty vibe with a sexy edge such as dresses with racerbacks, cut and spliced flirty shifts, and strapless gowns worn under crop tops, while the finale of gorgeous evening dresses were embellished with ostrich feathers, 3-D floral techniques, involving intricate needlework, screen printing and hand-painting – very desirable. – Lizzy Bowring
