Prabal Gurung

New York: After being awarded an Ecco Domani Fashion Fund sponsorship, the lesser-known Nepalese designer Prabal Gurung garnered the fashion world’s attention. Only his third collection, celebrities and fashion elite flocked to the show; even the illustrious Ms. Wintour made an appearance. The collection proved that Gurung is worthy of his newfound hype with plenty of sophisticated separates and appealing party dresses. Gurung played with perspective this season, showing pants and jackets that were grey, tan or white in front and black in back, demonstrating that things aren’t always what they seem. Little furs and sparkling black tweed separates had chic glamour. Viscose gazar in jewel tones was used for jackets, wrapped skirts and cocktail dresses, providing some of the finest moments in the show. The tasteful evening looks featured asymmetric gathering and color-blocking, for a look that was both sporty and seductive.
