Simple yet brilliant, Leo Fitzmaurice has combined his love for football with found objects, manifesting an 800 piece exhibition, comprised entirely of discarded cigarette boxes. Displayed at the Cube Gallery in Manchester, his designs have caught the eye of art and sports enthusiasts alike.
Kicking off this artistic venture completely on accident, Leo noticed the resemblance between a trashed cigarette pack and football jersey, almost ten years ago. Today, continuing with this unique concept, Leo sources his “media” from different locations around the world, primarily from — you guessed it, the ground.
Seeing the objects as a tool to create an assortment of patterns, Leo folds the broken down boxes into mini football jerseys. Each design original, the perfectly placed branding and flat net grids offer a simple object for him to work with.
