Ports 1961 Pre-Fall 2013

New York: Fiona Cibani stated her customers’ desire for “defined and precise” pieces, and her Pre-Fall collection for Ports 1961 was an attempt to provide them with clothing embodying those qualities. Jackets and blazers were sharply tailored and often lapel-less, giving them a clean, minimalist look, and many pants featured put-together pressed creases. Cibani made up for the lack of adornment with sensuous materials, including double-faced satin, fur, snakeskin, and super-soft leather. A jewel-tone abstract floral print added visual interest. Knits were a particular high point and ranged from classic cashmere turtlenecks to duo-tone ribbed pieces to color-blocked drop-needle sweaters. Wine, sapphire, citrine, and pastel pink tones added to the richness of this simple yet tasteful collection.–Joanna Manganaro
