Japanese kitchenware brand Torune has created a set of animal-shaped moulds that turn normal slices of bread into pop-up characters – perfect for bento boxes, kids’ lunches and cute breakfasts.

Available at online store Jbox, the cutters come in three types – Frog, Panda and Bear – and cost $13.50 for the set. Users simply press the cutter into the bread, lift the animal shape up, then make one incision into the crust that’s left behind and tuck it behind the animal’s head. A set of crown, bowtie and heart shapes are on the reverse of the tool, providing the option of further detailing.
