In true Milanese fashion, Gabrielecorto Moltedo, whose parents founded luxury label Bottega Veneta, christened his new boutique yesterday evening with a soirée fit for the industry elite.
Situated in a historical palace in Milan’s Montenapoleone neighborhood, the new Corto Moltedo boutique is the fruit of Moltedo’s collaboration with architect Roberto Gerosa. The space is comprised of three separate rooms, each providing an intimate space for clients to take their time and peruse the goods.
Corto Moltedo’s Spring Summer 2011 collection, which was revealed at the boutique opening, is called Pop-Luxe-Chic; a celebration of color that taps into the upbeat side of fashion. Bags of all sizes, shapes, and forms from structured clutches to oversized shoulder bags were amongst the new styles showcased, in addition to a gorgeous range of scarves, hats and other accessories.
“My love of art, which I inherited from my mother and grandmother, naturally led me to play with prints, and I decided to use silk scarves as my canvas. What better way to explore a fantasy? A scarf finishes a look as much as a piece of jewelry or the bag you carry. Silk echoes the noble leather we use in our bags; it seemed like a natural pairing.” Corto Moltedo
The launch of an e-tail shop has coincided with the opening of the new Milan space, bringing the boutique experience to Corto Moltedo shoppers all over the the world.
