The story of Plomo is the story of two women bonding over their love of travel and their love of shoes (we can definitely get behind that!). While the label has only been in existence since January 2010, their passion is absolutely evident in their ultra-wearable designs.
Plomo’s collections are always a study in piecing together contradictions: the masculine and feminine, the modern and the classic, the fanciful and the practical. This season, the ladies of Plomo were inspired by the unique blend of French and Mayan architecture in the Hacienda Tekit del Regil gardens of Merida, Mexico. That influence comes out best in an earth-toned color palette of rich red, mossy green and terra cotta and in fun fringe details that pop up on cone-heeled boots. Masculine silhouettes such as oxfords, loafers and chelsea boots still look decidedly feminine thanks to voluptuous wedges, patent textures and sleek pointed toes.
Come fall, expect Plomo to be a heavy hitter amongst laid-back fashionistas looking for their next staple shoe. I’m already making room in my closet for a pair or two!
