Whether you attribute it to the rise of the mini-me, cute kids spotted at Seoul fashion week this season or the rise of the perfect Instagram family dominating social media feeds, it’s clear that the creative spotlight has certainly been shining on the kid’s fashion and style industry recently.
Further proof of how in demand the kidswear market is was spotted last weekend as we attended the Pitti Bimbo International trade show . The show recorded increased footfall across the following regions (Germany 5%, UK 24%, Japan 14%, China 20% and Russia 5%). To match this demand, the trade show designed the event with a commitment to give industry experts and buyers even more to get excited about.
Responding to the more sophisticated buying demands the bi-annual event held at Fortezza da Basso in Florence re-addressed its layout for A/W16/17 showcasing unique, new or emerging brands.
This new area called Kidzz Fizz proved popular and for S/S 17 press and buyers were invited to their catwalk show to view the most innovative exhibitors. Stand out brands from the show include super fun Leitmotiv, with their sunshine embroidered jersey and soft separates and new Dutch label Longlivethequeen with a proportion of the collection made from end of line fabrics.
Other more established catwalk events continued to inspire buyers and press alike with the Apartment catwalk showing luxury pieces by brands including Velveteen and Stella Jean
The hotly anticipated annual showstopper catwalk by IlGufo picked a jungle theme as their back drop to the collection, live streamed to their Facebook page- a move that proves just how committed kidswear brands are when it comes to showcasing their product in exciting, innovative and new digital ways (to build a buzz within the industry and offer more access to the wider brand community).
Other catwalk highlights included the sponsored the runway show Children’s Fashion From Spain that picked an aloha surf direction, with brands Fun & Fun and Yclu.
