Peter Jensen’s odd sweetness

London: Many of us remember 2001’s film ‘Ghost World’, the story of two high-school graduates in a small town. The two teenage outsiders starring Scarlet Johansson as Rebecca and Thora Birch as Enid take a hard look at the world they observe, which results in a quirky and charming story and that’s what we know Jensen for. The film is based on the comic book by the same name which was reminiscent of the appliquéd ice-cream cones on candy coloured knitwear that paired with floating ghosts across skirt sets and shirts. Jacquard skirts, ruffled polo shirts, varsity jacket and fine knits imbued in pastels reflected the innocent character of Rebecca and her naïve charm. In contrast, black haired Enid – oversized gathered-waist shirt-dresses, cropped peplum tops and gathered gingham shirts, all in subdued colours, made up the second part of the collection. The film was released in the same year as Jensen started his business and he added: “The film seems to have a similar message: once an oddball, always oddball. – Christa Kaufmann
