3D printing company iMakr has collaborated with department store Le Bon Marché to offer customers personalised 3D printed candles in the shapes of miniature bust sculptures. Called Scandles, the candles are made using a 3D scan of the customer, which is taken in-store in a scanning booth. The file is then sent over to an iMakr store in London, where it is printed out as a silicone mould and used to cast a wax candle.

Retailing at £199 for a six-inch model and £299 for an eight-inch model, each Scandle is presented mounted on a black base, and there are five colours available – pink, orange, green, grey and vanilla – as well as five scents. Customers can also purchase a Scandle online, by submitting 3 photos of themselves via Mini-You’s website.

Homebuildlife subscribers can read more about the design impact of the selfie in our lifestyle trend report, Vanity Design.
