Perry Ellis by Duckie Brown

New York: Steven Cox and Daniel Silver’s second collection for Perry Ellis by Duckie Brown saw the duo fully find themselves under their new line, as they delivered an edited selection of wearable looks that managed to update traditional styles like fishtail parkas and camouflage jackets. The palette here was minimal and masculine, featuring olive, burgundy and mustard heavily, while an explosion of manly patterns like paisley and marsh camo looked novel, utilitarian and fresh. Military jackets, parkas and macs were standout items, but were perfectly supported by subtly cool corduroy trousers with unique curved seams, as well as double monk-strap shoes with burnished toecaps. The great triumph here was a notably departure from Duckie Brown’s more avant-garde viewpoint, producing looks that will appeal to the everyman, while still maintaining visual interests and innovative designs. –Andrew Luecke
