Workplace dynamics, accessories and wellbeing have been the focus of a number of recent reports on WGSN Lifestyle & Interiors, including solutions that make the office a more active and healthy environment, stylish desktop accessories to dress your desk for today’s homeworkers, and the latest workspace directions from the number one show for the contract market, NeoCon.
While at NeoCon, PearsonLloyd’s desktop organisers caught our eye with their refined, elegant and absolutely non-office looking design.
Presented as part of the designers’ collaboration with Teknion, these accessories are crafted in precious and pure materials, and consist of a blown glass water flask, beech iPad stand, marble fruit bowl and polished brass tray that compose into a Nest when stacked together. The collection also features a marble organiser with carved slots for a smartphone, pens and fruit, as well as a brass flower vase.
All the elements compose together as a set but are conceived to be distributed throughout the space, embellishing it while serving a purpose. Technology is important (and omnipresent), but so are hydration and healthy eating, and refined, eye-pleasing details.
Each of the pieces can double as home accessories as well, blending the borders between office and home in line with today’s growing numbers of style-conscious homeworkers.
This project is part of PearsonLloyd’s ongoing research project for the Canadian brand about the future of workplace, the shift in its culture, and growing ideas of wellbeing, community and collaboration in the contemporary office.
At NeoCon, Teknion also launched a publication on Ethonomics and the principles of designing for the modern space. Nature, activity, sharing and relaxation emerge as core concepts driving the design for new work ethics, and this set of refined desktop accessories also expresses the move-on from workspace design ruled by ergonomics alone, towards a more aesthetic- and pleasure-led direction.
