WRITTEN IN THE STARS
Paris: After several seasons of clean cut Mod influences, Sir Paul Smith time-traveled to a slightly later moment for S/S 11. With a soundtrack that included Led Zeppelin and a collection entitled “Cosmic Rockers”, a late 60s counterculture mood was established with laidback silhouettes, constellation motifs used for jewelry and prints, and dandyish pieces worn with disheveled elegance. The subdued night sky palette included celestial blue, dusky purple, and midnight black, and tiny stars were scattered over pants and jackets. Fluid jerseys and silks made the mood all the more dreamy, as did shawl collar tuxedo jackets (some sleeveless) worn over basic tees, and shirts with floppy self bows. Reinforced moto pants, leather jackets and burnished ankle boots lent a bit of toughness to Smith’s gentle hippie, and the slim bottoms and elongated shirts and blazers made the look completely right for today.
