MOD SNOW BUNNY
Paris: For the F/W 10 Paul and Joe show, Sophie Albou sent her models down the catwalk looking like 1960s teenage snow bunnies. Minis of all sorts were paired with crochet tights, knee-high sherpa boots and sweater-knit headbands. There were mod shifts and skirts, princess-lined pea coats, nubby sweater dresses, voluminous furs, and hip paisley blouses, all looking young, fun and a little bit rock ‘n’ roll. Flat footwear and sherpa messenger bags looked casual-cool and made for a laid-back, comfortable feel. Masculine items, like sheepskin aviator jackets and edgy chain necklaces, balanced ultra-girly details like oversized bows and peter pan collars. A black mini with ruffles trimming its front pockets looked new, and a few silk tuxedo suits were boyish but feminine. The breezy hair and makeup, and the realistic accessory styling, made it easy to imagine these looks on real girls walking down snowy city streets come winter.
