YOUTH IN REVOLT
New York: California-born New York designer Patrik Ervell is paving the way for subversive minimalism, and the industry is taking note. For Fall the CFDA nominated designer looked to his academic roots for inspiration, with a collection inspired by political unrest and the riots of the past year. The mostly monochromatic ensembles we not without consideration to current must-have components, colorblocking, abstract mottled prints, irridescent fabrics and leather were all incorporated into the small run of womens looks. Girlish yet sophisticated and basic yet considered, the collection will certainly strike a note with buyers who have come to rely on Ervell for minimal staples with an edge. —Shannon Davenport
