Yesterday Paris celebrated its latest luxury shopping showpiece, the inauguration of French department store Printemps‘ newest retail space located at the Carrousel du Louvre, the group’s first acquisition in over 30 years. Designed as an extension of the group’s Boulevard Haussmann flagship store and set to attract wealthy international clientele, the two-story, 2,500 sqm. space is dedicated solely to leather goods, jewelry, watches and beauty, narrowing its offering to showcase only the best of European luxury and craftsmanship. To further celebrate the unveiling of the exciting space, Printemps du Louvre will host a temporary exhibition called “Pop the Bag” featuring the works of six contemporary artists, each creating a handbag-themed installation that will decorate the central wing of the department store for the next three months. The Printemps group has announced future openings, including a new branch in Marseille due to be unveiled in May 2014, as well as one in St. Jean-de-Cannes on the French Riviera in 2015.
