Ah, Paris. The city of lights and love closes out Fashion Month A/W 2017 with even more stunning catwalk sets. As we’ve mentioned before the most innovative catwalk sets can provide the ultimate inspiration for retailers looking to create outstanding store windows, and in store visual merchandising that is guaranteed to make an appearance on Instagram.
Anthony Vaccarello decided to hold his second catwalk show with Yves Saint Laurent in the brand’s future (and unfinished!) headquarters. Surrounded by scaffolding, models strutted around the courtyard, giving the collection an even edgier aesthetic with the already tough and sexed up clothing. Vaccarello holding his show at the company’s future headquarters adds to the brand’s current theme that change is occurring at YSL (from the legacy of Yves to Hedi Slimane to Vaccarello), and while the scaffolding showed that it’s a work in progress, it is definitely a nod to the idea of looking forward.
Barren, floating trees and dead foliage lined the runway at Off White’s Fall 2017 show. Models walked through the eerie forest, shrouded in smoke, setting an air of mystery over the collection. The buzz surrounding Virgil Abloh is at an all time high at the moment with the fashion industry obsessed with what the streetwear/high fashion hybrid designer (and former Kanye West protégée) will do next.
Paule Ka (the French ready to wear brand) held its show at the stunning InterContinental Paris LeGrand in central Paris. Decadent in French Rococo-styled rooms, with such a glamorous backdrop one would think that Paule Ka wouldn’t need much of a set for their show. However, the brand decided to ramp it up a level with large mirrored balls that sat in the center of circular mirrored platforms where the models stood to show off the alluring collection.
