Emerald is so 2013. Pantone, the global authority on color, announced their pick for the ‘it’ hue of 2014. Radiant Orchid, a fresh burst of pale purple with vibrant pink and fuchsia undertones is set to take the new year in a “confident direction, emanating great joy, love and health,” says Leatrice Eisemen, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute. Last year’s Emerald hue was a symbol of “growth, renewal and prosperity,” whereas Radiant Orchid encourages “expanded creativity and originality.”

Tastemakers such as Max Mara and DKNY were ahead of the curve, highlighting their S/S 14 collections with pops of purple.
