The Active team has been keeping an eye on UK-based Palace Skateboards for the last few years…as small brands evolve into major players, it is always interesting to watch the progress. Well, it looks like we weren’t the only ones paying attention, as Umbro recently teamed up with the crew of “Wayward Boys” to create a capsule collection of 80s inspired jerseys and sportswear fit for football royalty.
Although it may seem like an unlikely pairing, founder of Palace, Lev Tanju had this to say about the partnerhsip; “Loads of skateboarders I know are crazy for football. It’s the same set of skills that you need I guess: balance, coordination, kicking stuff about with your feet”. Sounds about right. For a more in-depth look, the collection is also being featured in i-D’s annual Royalty Issue, shot by Alasdair McLellan and available in all its glory on newstands this month. – Jeanine Pesce
