This past weekend, Gap and Pantone, the world’s official keeper of color, opened up a pop-up shop on New York City’s Fifth Avenue in the company’s “concept store” space. The shop will sell t-shirts and other items in a range of Pantone hues. The official 2009 color of the year, called Mimosa (14-084), will make its grand appearance on a Gap-exclusive t-shirt. Pantone describes the color as having seven characteristics: optimistic, hopeful, reassuring, warm, cheerful, radiant, and versatile– all of which they feel are the most relevant to the next twelve months. Who wouldn’t want a year full of those qualities?
The shop is open now thru February 8th and located at 54th Street and Fifth Avenue in New York.
