Paris: For her debut outing as artistic director of Paco Rabanne, 29-year-old Lydia Maurer looked to the house’s history for inspiration. In particular, she examined a series of seductive nudes by photographer Jean Clemmer, which featured Rabanne accessories. Maurer channeled the alluring nature of the photographs when creating this season’s garments. Metal mesh, revealing necklines, snakeskin and silver chain body jewelry were among the overtly sexy elements in the collection. Copious cutouts appeared, and pants had only belt-loops where their waistbands should be, revealing even more skin. Maurer’s woman was certainly confident in her sexuality, and that confidence, in addition to the signature metal mesh, connected this collection to the heritage of the label. –Joanna Manganaro
