The redefined silhouettes from Talavera’s MAN debut, broken-up using unexpected proportions and blocks of contrast pattern, echoed through this collection but were reimagined with a much stronger slant towards commercially accessible pieces. It had a sense of easiness to it rooted in the pyjama-like layers of lightweight jackets, woven tops and parachute trousers, heavily influenced by iconic sportswear pieces – especially the baseball shirt in terms of collarless V-neck styling and simple stripes. There were easy-sell premium sweatshirts and oversized T-shirts, both featuring a cheeky slogan, but for all the high-end athletic references classic tailoring played a core role too, inspiring new takes on pinstriped city suiting and a traditional camel overcoat. The abundance of self-belts and straps, combined with flashes of PVC, also hinted at some subtle fetish undertones. – Ben Perdue
