It’s that time again, and tomorrow kicks off the Summer Market for Outdoor Retailer. A jam-packed week is ready for attendees including film debuts, launch parties, and fun-runs. We’ve highlighted a few of the events we are looking forward to the most as we kick off the show!
Range Magazine // Launch Party
After the successful launch of Scramble at the Winter Market, Range is back this season debuting the first official issue of RANGE Magazine. The new issue will go live tomorrow, August 6th, and will be celebrated with a launch party in Salt Lake City that night from 5:30-7:00 pm in Pavilion 2 at Venture Out. A creative magazine that encourages people to get outside, be active and enjoy life. Featuring some of our favorite, cutting-edge brands in beautiful editorials and features within the active lifestyle industry.

If you aren’t at Outdoor Retailer and would like a copy, you can view the digital copy here. For physical copies, Without Walls will be stocking the issue in its Portland, Seattle, Costa Mesa, San Francisco, LA and NYC stores. Snow Peak in Portland, OR will also have copies on hand. There will also be copies available online!
When Dogs Fly // Film Screening
One of our favorite aspects of OR has to be the dogs. From famous friends to true outdoor athletes, the furry attendees steal the show. Also on the first night of the show, Whisper–and his owner Dean S. Potter will be on-hand to debut their film When Dogs Fly. The film is an emotional film about Dean Potter’s attempt to wingsuit BASE jump with his dog Whisper. Many of us saw the viral video of the two go viral earlier this year, and this is the true story behind it all from the duo themselves. There will be two showings complete with beer, pizza and a Q&A after the film at 6:30 and again at 7:15.
Project OR // At the Show
A favorite event of ours each season, is Project OR. Talented young designers compete head-to-head to create outerwear pieces after being handed a brief the first day of the show. The competition spans the length of the show, with judges from various parts of the industry weighing in with their expert opinions. Past seasons’ contestants litter the industry at some of the best-known brands, and this year should be another fresh crop. Check out their YouTube channel for scenes from prior years’ competitions, and see below for some of the projects that came out of it all!
