Friends of ours, Nancy and Benjamin of Studio XO have spent the past six months working on the construction of an innovative flying dress, to coincide with Lady Gaga’s recent album launch in New York.
Working closely with drone experts and Gaga’s creative team, Studio XO has been able to take its vision of wearable electronics to an altogether different level. The garment is called “Volantis”, and sits somewhere between a dress and a flying machine – watch the video above to see it hover across the room.
During the album launch, Gaga also insisted that Nancy and Benjamin (who were dressed in white boiler suits) were present – giving them notable credit for their collaboration with her.
“I wanted to make today about something even more important to me,” she told attendees at the event.
“That something is the youth of the world. Benjamin and Nancy (the dress’ engineer and designer) are here with me today. Their minds are just so boundless. I will be a vehicle today for their voices… Youth all over the world.”
