New York: Organic by John Patrick burst onto the scene in 2008 with a CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund nomination and all the attention and expectation that surrounds it. The label has continued to quietly grow and mature over the past few seasons, and its current collection demonstrated how far it has come. Patrick’s signature prim and youthful aesthetic remained, but expert tailoring and classic shapes gave it a sophisticated edge. The tails of oversized, menswear-inspired button-up shirts peeked out from beneath classic blazers, giving looks an easy, casual feel, while precise A-line skirts and a buttery yellow short suit were buttoned-up and refined. Calf-length floral dresses and flat oxford shoes had a Dust Bowl-era charm. The mix of vintage, menswear and girlishness appeals to the way young women are dressing today – an eclectic mix of masculine and feminine, old and new.
