Based out of Tokyo, Japan, Bedwin and The Heartbreakers has been making enormous waves within elite Tokyo fashion circles and is set to make its first breakthrough into international markets for the S/S 12 season. We visited London PR Agency A Number of Names to view their forthcoming collection.
Founded in the fall of 2004 out of his long-time stint at cult Japanese label Tenderloin, Bedwin is the brainchild of Masafumi “Bebetan” Watanabe. Nearing a decade in production, Bedwin & The Heartbreakers has honed a signature house style that is built around practicality and wearability. The motto is simple. “Paramount Quality.” It is this drive for the very best that is evident in each garment. The attention to detail and garment construction is second to none.
S/S 12 saw the Tokyo-based brand make its international inroads, launching Bedwin’s first European presentation at London trade show, Jacket Required earlier this summer. The European S/S12 collection is based on redesigns of a few Bedwin classics from their past S/S collection mixed with pieces designed especially and exclusively for Europe. It is representative of what the brand does best: unique yet simply designed garments in great fabrications. Masafumi Watanabe aims to introduce the core offerings of Bedwin & The Heartbreakers by offering their European followers a vision of the brand and philosophy.
Quality denim has fast become synonymous with the brand. As well as its own brand line of classic denim silhouettes, they have also collaborated with U.S. heavyweights Lee and Dickies to produce a fine collection of workwear-inspired items. Masafumi Watanabe and his team strive to improve everyday pieces season after season, pushing the idea that once a wearer likes a garment they want to wear it all the time. It is a label that revels in simplicity and in the real beauty of menswear.
