New York: Ohne Titel designers, Alexa Adams and Flora Gill, explored the idea of protection (a reoccurring theme this week) for their F/W 12 collection. Tough, armor-like silhouettes were constructed in a textural jacquard knit, while contrast panels and contoured banding emphasized curves of the body. For a collection based on protection, things felt surprisingly light — slouchy drawstring pants featured a digital animal print and bouncy fit-n-flare dresses gained movement from knit pleats. Color-blocking, two-tone stripes and the checkered jacquard motif employed a minimalist palette of black, white and cobalt for a high-contrast graphic element, which carried through in each look. Molded, helmet-style caps topped off ensembles, playing up the inspiration. —Anna Jane Davis
