New York: Whatever reservations Tom Ford may have had in the past were well and truly dismissed with last night’s dazzling presentation of his S/S 18 collection. There was no doubt that Ford revisited his past with echoes of Gucci and Saint Laurent emerging in flamboyant recreations but the broad shouldered jackets, cut with bespoke precision and drenched in powerful pink, spoke volumes. Drop dead sexy, low slung trousers, were worn with high hip, skin revealing maillots while an oversized cropped denim jacket mimicked semblances of overt streetstyle.
But the sex appeal also came in numerous ways; from the sequined tunics abbreviated right at that point where it could become visibly dangerous to slithers of body skimming shirred dresses reminiscent of Kate Moss and her supermodel peers. Rolled leg shorts revealed long, long legs and shimmering satin bomber jackets added to the glamorous 90s vibe and as for the return of bright colour, it fell nothing short of downright sexy. – Lizzy Bowring
