New York: A perfect setting and a perfect collection. Tory Burch presented a ‘true summer collection’ in every sense, certainly answering all her well-heeled clients’ vacation needs. In a setting that underscored a summer celebration, models meandered quietly through manicured gardens at the Smithsonian Design museum, where the backdrop of intense greenery lent an appealing foil to her colourful lineup. Burch took inspiration from David Hicks, the celebrated British Interior designer, infusing his dynamic use of geometric prints and gorgeous bold colour into her easy silhouettes. Here was a mix of classic and modern, with bright stripes and graphic prints further emphasised against a backdrop of pristine white and placed on tunic dresses, pyjama style outfits, and caftan shapes. In particular, an asymmetric top, edged in bright orange will be a standout piece for ‘beach to bar’ evenings. Burch’s fresh and optimistic use of colour sparkled on long tunic dresses that mesmerised her audience, transporting them to wherever that vacation might be, Hamptons or beyond. – Lizzy Bowring
