NYFW has returned to the city with full force, kickstarting a busy season of frenetic show-hopping for our catwalks team.
WGSN Catwalks Director Lizzy Bowring weighs in on last night’s Tom Ford A/W 18 show – one of the real stand-outs of fashion month’s opening day.
NEW YORK: The powerful energy that exudes from a Tom Ford show literally reverberates with seduction.
This season, he sent out yet another glamorous and overtly sexy collection full of flamboyant 80’s recreations. If one was reminded of Rodeo Drive in it’s heyday, you would not be far off the mark. Oversized outerwear enveloped the slimmest of female forms licked in stretch animal print. Elsewhere, sparkle, shine and vibrant colour resonated on every surface including Ford’s signature depicted in sparkling crystals and sequins. His impeccable tailoring continued in to-die-for tuxedo jackets, mini dresses and a gorgeous black catsuit while the ‘Me Too’ was not forgotten, with ‘Pussy Power’ emblazoned across a stylish bag – if that was not a clear enough message for this confident outing. – Lizzy Bowring
