New York: Pookie and Louisa Burch usually find the inspiration for their collections in American minimalist art of the 1960s and 1970s and for A/W 15/16 they used photographer Garry Winogrand’s recent retrospective at the Metropolitan Museum of Art as a main reference. A delightful and nostalgic sense of sportswear, functionality and mix-and-match utility dominated throughout the lineup – oversized chino trousers sported raw edge details, faux fur zippered vests were completely reversible and classic Oxford shirts sported detachable scarf pieces. New for the season was the introduction of animal print – black and white leopard spots updated skirts, dresses, jacquard jackets and footwear, recalling the graphic vitality of the Seventies. The designers played with scale and texture too – outerwear came in exaggerated almond shapes, while the standout piece of the collection was a gorgeous faux-fur coat. – Diego Sanchez
