Currently on display in Granville at the Musée Christian Dior (once Christian Dior’s childhood home) is its latest exhibition, Dior: The Legendary Images. The exhibition showcases over 200 photos alongside 60 corresponding couture dresses from the 1940s and the era of the New Look through today under the reins of Raf Simons. The extensive exhibition highlights some of the work of the photographic greats who documented Dior’s collections, including Richard Avedon, Irving Penn, Cecil Beaton, Helmut Newton and Guy Bourdin. Don’t miss the iconic image by Avedon in the first room “Dovima with Elephants”, signed by the photographer himself and given to Dior early in his career. –Emily Cater
