Nike unveiled a summer of #innovation this morning, introducing the newest material technology from HTM, the team of industry leaders comprised of Hiroshi Fujiwara, design legend Tinker Hatfield and Nike CEO and designer Mark Parker. Nike Flyknit Technology is an engineered knit created for performance footwear (shown above in a Racer silhouette). The new one piece knit will provide a super lightweight ride weighing in at 5.6 ounces for a size 9.
A simplified Flywire concept, the Flyknit technology fulfills similar benefits, aka a snug fit and minimal approach to materials, as well as offering optimum performance through a single effective layer. The engineered knit gets the job done with one piece, reducing manufacturing processes for a more sustainable approach.
The Nike Flyknit Racer will be available in July, but is expected to be seen in many spring marathons as well as at the London Games this summer. For runners of all levels, the Trainer+ will also feature the technology, as well as the HTM series to hint at future possibilities the knit offers.
The HTM Trainer+ shows just a taste of the design capabilities that knit allows, comfortably offered on a Lunarlon midsole. The Active Team is ready to see the endless colorways and designs that Flyknit will inspire! -Calvy Click
