New York: Nicholas Kunz has been experimenting with layered dressing for several seasons. Although the results have at times appeared overworked, the designer’s S/S 12 collection was revelation of lightness and energy. The opening series of asymmetrical all-white looks were money in the bank, and the splattering of slashed knitwear left those in the audience wanting more. Sheer tie-dye pieces in inky blue and aqua green added depth to an otherwise monochrome offering. With 52 looks Kunz would have been well advised to edit out the awkward sweatshirt jackets and dresses that marred an otherwise successful outing.—Shine Dharan
