Joining the ever-expanding bevy of French brands that have made their way across the Atlantic to settle in SoHo and the West Village, the Alexa Chung-approved Sandro has recently opened the doors of its first two U.S. stores (men’s and women’s) on Bleecker Street in NYC. Fun fact: Evelyne Chétrite, one of the founders of this husband-and-wife brand, just happens to be the sister of Judith Milgrom, who just happens to be the founder of the eerily similar line Maije, which just happens to be located right next to Sandro (and opened only a few months ago). Talk about keeping it in the family, right? For real, what are the odds of this? Insane stuff.
What’s also insane is how adorable Sandro’s F/W 2011 collection is, all Peter Pan collars, slim trousers and leather detailing. The boutique’s blonde wood and antique tables provide the perfect complement to the brand’s classic yet contemporary pieces. The men’s boutique features investment-worthy staples like wool coats perfect for combating the city’s chilliest temps and sexy, slim-cut suits. Both the men’s and women’s stores share a communal dressing area, located smack dab in the middle, making for fun fashion show potential and easy couple shopping. xx Ashley Churchill
