Accessories may fare better than in previous seasons as designers showcased modern updates to classic vintage silhouettes during New York Fashion Week. New handheld shaped handbags emerged in the form of voluminous framed clutches in regal hues of purple, green and gold. Exquisite leathers and exotic skins are decorated with gold plates as the size of the chain strap increasesShoulder bags appear in slimmer proportions while the fuller classic hobo is reinterpreted in interesting material combinations of metallic leather and mesh overlays.

FOOTWEAR

Designers turned out fierce incarnations of towering platform-front shoes and boots with pencil thin heels during New York Fashion Week. Thigh-high boots with elastic openings were awe-inspiring and complemented the mini-skirt of the season.  Demi-wedge booties with turned-up toes and elastic-strapped exotic variations were paired with opaque hosiery, making it the quintessential footwear choice for fall.

JEWELRY

Statement pieces remained front-and-center during New York Fashion Week as oversized chokers and jeweled bib necklaces sparkled.  Designers infused color and adorned gold and silver with precious gemstones and wooden beads in ethnic-inspired necklaces.  Chandelier earrings in bright green and bracelets styled over sleeves and leather gloves were reminiscent of more prosperous times.

OTHER ACCESSORIES

New York Fashion Week leaves behind the impression that accessories can be every bit as, if not more, important than the clothes themselves.  Designers crafted each piece with a little something extra, whether it was opera-style gloves in exaggerated lengths or multiple belts layered to effect a corseted waistline.   Sheer hosiery bedazzled with gems and sequins were breathtaking.   Oversized frames with blacked-out lenses shield and protect, keeping within this season’s theme of the urban warrior.
