New York Fashion Week has been turfed out of the Lincoln Center. Its February edition will be its last in the venue.
Organisers IMG have yet to announce a location for September’s event, reports state it is making plans to move into several locations.
New York Fashion Week caused issues with locals who objected to it and other events held in Damrosch Park.
The Lincoln Center deal with IMG had potential to last until 2020, but in May last year community organisations filed a law suit in New York’s Supreme Court demanding the agreement between the Parks Department and Lincoln Center be terminated and Damrosch Park not be used for non-park purposes.
Yesterday a Supreme Court settlement in New York City said the city cannot approve the use of Damrosch Park for NYFW after February, and that IMG cannot renew its agreement.
An IMG spokesman told Women’s Wear Daily: “IMG has been actively looking for a new home for NYFW that gives our designers and partners the best possible environment to share their creative visions. We look forward to sharing more details on our new home soon.”
