New Banana Republic + Mad Men Line

Banana Republic will launch Mad Men-inspired line.

Banana Republic and Mad Men are partnering a third time to launch a capsule collection inspired by the show’s wardrobe. Costumer Janie Bryant and Banana Republic Creative Director Simon Kneen collaborated to design the 65-piece collection, which includes clothes and accessories for both men and women. The line will be featured in the chain’s F/W 11 advertising campaign and will be available in stores mid-August. Price points will be consistent with Banana Republic’s.

I started out in advertising in “Mad Men” days, and very few of us in the creative department cared much about clothes. Sure, a new tie once in a while, or maybe a gift sweater…but who wanted to get pastels and magic markers on really good stuff. We all wore nice raincoats and hats, though, to put on as we kissed the office goodnight.

haha, that’s an interesting point. I think that the hype surrounding the show’s fashion is more closely related to how well-executed and appealing the looks of the period and place are though.
