The New Balance Lifestyle Collection, including the iconic 574s and 580s, are known for their classic look, bevy of colorways, and that signature grey, providing a understated staple year-round. This winter, New Balance addressed the need for more utilitarian footwear in the marketplace by developing the ML581s. Available for spring release, the new silhouette features weatherproof materials that will benefit the urban warrior through the winter months. Matted waxed suede and mesh create a more water-resistant upper, webbed lacing systems allows easy of entry, and a lugged sole is key for icy conditions.
The Global 581 Collaboration is the first project featuring the 581s model, including four boutiques worldwide – Bodega from Boston, Mita Sneakers in Tokyo, Kasina in Seoul, and 24 Killates in Barcelona, are each influenced by the style and culture of their region.

Inspired by the color palette and material of ski jackets in the early ‘90s, theBodega model reinforces the trend in lifestyle footwear borrowing fabrics and textures from outerwear. The fleece saddle evokes jacket lining, and the tweed bootie provides a warm, subtle texture that blends function with lifestyle aesthetic, an important objective for New Balance Lifestyle moving forward.
