MODERN + MARITIME + MILITARY
Milan: Various inspirations and materials were fused together in Neil Barrett’s F/W 11 show. Activewear, military and nautical elements commingled, and contrasting fabrics were pieced or bonded to form precisely constructed garments. Sporty body-con leggings were styled with boxy outerwear, and cropped wide-leg trousers were partnered with shrunken tailored jackets. For knits, patterns and dimensional stitchery were collaged, resulting in fresh breton stripe interpretations. The overall look was masculine and clean, but mildly offbeat.
