Nary Manivong

The subject of the new documentary, Dressed, up-and-coming designer Nary Manivong presented a well-edited collection of day-to-night looks that possessed an accessible and refined elegance.  The garments were deceptively simple, but it only took a second glance to see the thought and intricate craftsmanship that went into each item.  A simple shift was detailed with a neck-to-hem exposed zipper in the back.  A triangular panel of bright chartreuse cut into a seemingly seamless sheath, revealing its geometric construction.  The designer spoke of wanting to make the collection “refreshing and vibrant.”  With its muted colors mixed with pops of brightness and an effortless sophistication built on intricate details, the collection succeeded in both aspects.
