New York: One of Minimalism’s faithful devotees, Narciso Rodriguez is known for his spare, clean pieces. This season, the designer stayed true to his aesthetic, while adding a wider range of color, compelling patterns and of-the-moment silhouettes. Slip dresses in color-blocked chiffon were the highlight, their midi length and easy A-line shape making them feel right for today. A burnout fabric with an eroded black, white and pink print seemed to capture the grittiness of New York, while oversized checks in grayscale felt more controlled. Trousers were perfect for the office, with a straight yet relaxed cut, and outerwear got an update with contrast lapels or sleeves and leather panels. The appealing collection was true to Rodriguez’s past while adding innovative new elements.
