New York: Retailers will be pleased with Narciso Rodriguez’s offerings for Pre-Fall 11, a collection built around the kind of high-quality classics that customers are comfortable investing in. Straightforward tailored items – in ultra-soft wools, supple leathers, and buttery silks – were each the ultimate, quintessential version of their particular style. Though experimentation was sparse, the new ideas that Rodriguez did play with proved successful. Dreamy ombré effects on silk added just the right amount of newness to a wrap top and sheath dress. Cuts read conservatively, but the body-skimming silhouettes highlighted a svelte, ladylike frame. The looks will appeal to grown-up women, as well as those of any age seeking chic yet professional wares. Overall, the assortment was elegant and strong, if a bit on the safe side.
