Narciso Rodriguez

A CUT ABOVE
New York: Following last season’s career-highlight-worthy reviews, Narciso Rodriguez  clearly decided to stick with a good thing for F/W 13. That good thing being a streamlined silhouette,  sharply cut and spliced; clean black and white piqued with rich, punchy hues, and an aura of cool, confident sex appeal. Rodriguez’s modern take on minimalism steers his brand of luxury ever closer to the Calvin Klein and Céline camp. Sheath dresses, shell tops and knife-pleat pants get a clever kick from subtle asymmetric details, origami folds, handkerchief inserts and color-block panels. Strong, lean and sophisticated, the collection was energetic and optimistic, perfectly suited to show off the glamorous guns and statuesque beauty of unofficial brand ambassadors like Julianna Margulies and Michelle Obama. — Natalie Shukur
