The trend for pairing gourmet food with music has been ever prevalent this summer, and we’ve seen countless traveling street and fast food vendors popping up at music events to provide their finest culinary delights for consumers across London, California and the Far East.
Los Angeles born Dante Fried Chicken is the latest street food craze offering Caribbean and African fare. Set up by music producer and food enthusiast Dante Gonzales, and Coco Rosie band member Bianca Casady, the concept truck has been created to “bridge community, culture, art and music through the medium of food”.
Dante’s chicken truck regularly rocks up at the hippest art and music parties and this weekend he’s coming to London thanks to cool-cat music collective, Earnest Endeavours to host an alternative summer BBQ jam while the Notting Hill Carnival is in full swing.
Continuing on the theme of music and food, Turntable Kitchen is a blog set up by a couple Matthew and Kasey Hickey to marry their love for music and food. Recipes are featured with an accompanying track or curated playlist. Additionally subscribers to the site will receive a Pairings Box containing a vinyl single with matching ingredients to recreate website recipes.
We like the idea that artists are sharing music and food pairings online and offline to create multi-sensory experiences and tailored moments while cooking, eating or enjoying music, and hope to see some more examples of this before the summer is out. – Samantha Fox
