The latest hotel to open in trendy Glockenbachviertel, Munich, is The Flushing Meadows, a design-conscious, yet affordable hotel perfect for the discerning traveller. Architects Sascha Arnold and Steffen Werner were behind the overall concept for the hotel, while a number of guest designers and creatives were invited to decorate the rooms. Housing 11 studio loft apartments and five penthouse studios, those involved in designing rooms include musician Michi Beck, pro-surfer Quirin Rohleder and furniture designer Norbert Wangen, while rooms also feature artwork by Maximan Rödel, toiletries by eco-brand Walachai and cable-free sound systems by Ultimate Ears. The top floor also boasts a bar with views over Munich from the terrace, headed by Arnold & Werner in partnership with gastro-marketing guru Niels Jäger. –Emily Cater
