After successful runs in Frankfurt, Berlin and London, the Pret A Diner team is taking their movable feast to Munich for “The Director’s Cut,” a pop-up restaurant set in an old movie theater, where five innovative young chefs, some of them Michelin-starred, will delight diners in a unique environment.
Billing itself as a “dining experience” rather than a pop-up restaurant, the folks behind Pret A Diner throw themed affairs, complete with lavish decorations, custom-made artworks, costumed staff and crazy attention to the tiny details that make a meal truly special. This past summer in Frankfurt, in line with “The Tree House” theme, guests were ensconced in an actual tree house, where Michelin-starred chefs whipped up whimsical delights that were anything but for the birds. In London, “The Minotaur” held court in the dark, candlelit Old Vic Tunnels, a spooky, maze-like setting.
Beginning on November 9th, Pret A Diner’s latest venture, “The Director’s Cut,” envisions the audience as theatergoers, and the chefs in the kitchen as directors, creating edible masterpieces for a discerning public. Set in an old movie theater, this event promises to be nothing short of spectacular.
From November 9-17, triple-Michelin starred chef Juan Amador will be in the director’s chair, alternating with cutting edge London chef Nuno Mendes (November 9-23), who trained at El Bulli and now runs the underground Loft Project, a private supper club.
Also overlapping these two talented chefs is Ollysan, a Berlin born, Japan-trained sushi master whose temporary Kokoro restaurant in Munich was a smash hit in gastronomic circles. His passionate take on this demanding cuisine will be available November 18th-27th.
The last set of chefs consists of Asian master Tim Raue (November 24th-December 11th) and the celeb king of home cooking, Adam Byatt (November 28th-December 11th), both Michelin-starred.
